Do you have a new motherboard with USB3.1 header for your front panel connections?
USB 3.1 requires a different front panel header than USB 3.0, so in example if you have a case with USB 3.0 front panel, you cannot connect it to your motherboard.
As solution, you can use this adapter cable! It is also designed to be backwards compatible
There are no official release of the specs for the USB 3.1 header yet (as of this writing), but the first motherboards with USB 3.1 connector are the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS IX FORMULA, STRIX Z270I/Z270G etc.
